Integrated Building Management System (IBMS) Course for BMS Operators
This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate,
maintain, and troubleshoot integrated building management systems (IBMS) in
various building types. Through a blend of theoretical and practical training,
participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of IBMS components,
functionalities, and best practices for efficient building operation.

Course Objectives:
• Understand the fundamental concepts and benefits of IBMS.
• Identify the core components and functionalities of an IBMS.
• Gain knowledge of various building systems integrated within an IBMS.
• Learn essential operation and maintenance procedures for IBMS.
• Develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve common IBMS issues.
• Apply best practices for safe and efficient building operation using an IBMS.

Course Modules:
1. Introduction to Building Management Systems (BMS) and Integrated
Building Management Systems (IBMS):
• Definition and purpose of BMS and IBMS
• Benefits and applications of IBMS in different building types (e.g., office
buildings, hospitals, educational institutions, retail spaces)
• Comparison between traditional BMS and IBMS
2. Core Components of an IBMS:
• Sensors and actuators (e.g., temperature sensors, pressure sensors, flow
meters, dampers, valves)
• Controllers and communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, IP)
• Human-machine interface (HMI) (e.g., touchscreens, workstations, mobile
apps)
• Network infrastructure (e.g., local area networks, wide area networks,
internet)
3. Integrated Building Systems:
• Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems
• Lighting systems
• Security systems (e.g., intrusion detection, access control, CCTV)
• Fire alarm systems
• Public address systems
• Elevators and escalators
• Other building systems (e.g., waste management, water management)
• Understanding how these systems interact and communicate within an IBMS
4. Key Functionalities of an IBMS:
• Monitoring:
o Real-time monitoring of various building systems and environmental
conditions
o Centralized visualization of data on the HMI
o Alarm generation and notification for faults and abnormal conditions
o Data logging and historical trend analysis
• Control:
o Centralized control of various building systems through the HMI
o Scheduling and optimization of system operation based on occupancy,
weather conditions, and energy efficiency goals
o Demand-based control strategies
• Energy Management:
o Monitoring and analyzing building energy consumption
o Identifying opportunities for energy savings
o Implementing energy-saving measures (e.g., optimizing HVAC settings,
using natural light)
o Integration with renewable energy sources
5. Operation and Maintenance of an IBMS:
• Safe operation practices for IBMS, including lockout/tagout (LOTO)
procedures
• Preventive maintenance procedures for IBMS components
• Troubleshooting common IBMS issues (e.g., communication failures, sensor
malfunctions, equipment breakdowns)
• Maintaining system documentation and records
6. Best Practices for Efficient Building Operation using an IBMS:
• Optimizing system settings for comfort, safety, and energy efficiency
• Utilizing data analytics to identify trends and make informed decisions
• Implementing sustainable building practices
• Communicating effectively with building occupants and stakeholders
7. Hands-on Training (Optional):
• Practical experience with a real IBMS system or simulator
• Performing basic configuration and control tasks
• Simulating and troubleshooting common IBMS scenarios
8. Industry Standards and Regulations:
• Understanding relevant industry standards and regulations related to IBMS
installation, operation, and maintenance
9. Advanced Topics (Optional):
• Introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)
applications in IBMS
• Exploring the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) devices with IBMS
• Cloud-based IBMS solutions
• Future trends in building automation and smart buildings
10.English Speaking:
• Integration of English speaking sessions.
• Enhancing participants’ communication skills in technical vocabulary, customer
interaction, and workplace communication

This course content provides a foundational understanding of integrated building
management systems and equips BMS operators with the necessary skills to
effectively manage and maintain these systems in real-world settings. The specific
content and depth of the course can be adjusted based on the target audience and
their prior knowledge

Note- For students going to the Gulf countries for the program, they will be
responsible for the following costs:
• Medical charges: This typically includes the cost of mandatory medical tests
and vaccinations required for visa processing. You’ll need to check with the
specific embassy or consulate of the Gulf country you’re going to for the exact
costs and procedures.
• Visa charges: This refers to the fees associated with applying for and
obtaining a visa to study in the chosen Gulf country. Visa fees vary depending
on the country, visa type, and processing time.
• Flight charges: As a student, you’ll be responsible for covering the cost of
your travel to and from the Gulf country. This includes airfare, airport taxes,
and any other travel expenses.

It’s important to carefully research and budget for all these costs before
embarking on your studies in the Gulf region. Be sure to inquire with the Gulf
Training Program or the relevant authorities for the most up-to-date information and
specific requirements for each category.
